I have a dear affinity for the seaside, salt spray on my face, sea breeze in my hair, and the crash of waves upon the shore. I love the colors of the seaside islands in their muted earthy hues mixed with a pop of colorful houses and budding bushes. I love seeing the bustling sidewalks as people go to and fro with a destination in mind and a memory to make, but I also love to sit by the water with a good book and soak up the tranquility of the oceans song lulling against the sand.

On our trip to Galveston this summer I made sure to soak up everything I love about the seaside, which really included me asking my dad to pull over by all the colorful beach houses to take pictures and then making my brother walk by all the old cottages on one of the main streets to snap more pictures. There always seems to be something simple about the seaside which is probably why I keep going back:)

I decided to go with simple and natural pastel vibes for our day exploring the island and settled on this vintage dress I inherited from my grandmother. Since the day consisted of walking in the sun I finished off my look with my summer boater hat, comfortable walking sandals, my brown woven leather purse, and well tinted black sunglasses.

Are you a fan of the seaside?

Tied Up In Historic Gruene

Friday, July 28, 2017

Dress: Designed & Made By Me
Shoes: Modcloth
Bag: Thrifted
Sunglasses: Forever21

It's no secret that I LOVE old historic towns! I think if I could go on the ULTIMATE road trip it would be traveling across country visiting each historic town and soaking up the quaint culture, traditional lifestyles, and authentic stories. With that being said, one of my favorite historic towns in Texas is Gruene. This town really is quite legendary around these parts because it is in the New Braunfels area and is frequently visited by tourists and vacationers all the time (especially in the summer).

The focal point of the town is Gruene Hall which is one of the oldest (and still operating) dance halls in Texas (built in 1878) and it is so beautiful! Sadly, I have yet to actually go dancing there because we always visit in the early afternoon, but just imagine old wood floors perfectly worn down from dancing, screen windows, and a well loved stage all wrapped up in a white frame building.

However, the dance hall is not all that Gruene has to offer as there is a fabulous antique store right on main street, an old general store which serves much loved Blue Bell ice cream, a lovely wine room, and countless other shops and boutiques. When you are not busy shopping or eating at one of the many restaurants or bakeries the old houses are one to catch your eye and I am already dreaming of staying at one of the bnb's one day as the old houses are so stunning!

Since I knew we were taking a trip to Gruene I planned ahead and made this red gingham midi dress inspired by this darling tie front midi dress from Anthropologie. If there was any dress that made me realize how much I love sewing it would have to be this creation, because I was able to replicate a dress I fell in love with and tweak it to fit all of my design ideas. This was one of those looks that kind of screams "I belong in an old small town" so it was a no brainer that this combo came together effortlessly and made me feel right at home while exploring shops, eating ice cream, and marveling at old houses:)

What is your favorite historic town?

My 4 Foolproof Brow Products

Tuesday, July 25, 2017

**All products were received for free, complimentary of Influenster and L'Oreal Paris**

When it comes to ones daily makeup routine I feel that brows are often the last thing you tend to think about. Maybe its because you don't want to take the time to shape your brows or maybe its because you haven't found the right product or tool to make the job easy peasy? I know I have been on the search for the perfect brow product over the past couple of years. I have tried nearly a dozen different pencils, gels, you name it, but nothing compares to these 4 foolproof products that I am sharing with you today!
I can't tell you how much I LOVE these four brow products and how they have completely changed my brow game, making it easier to work my brows into my makeup routine every day as well as give my brows a natural but defined shape. Whatever shade or consistency you are after these 4 products will be exactly what you need.

I received this Maybelline brow chalk free from influenster, and oh my gosh it is AMAZING! Unlike the typical brow products that are loose or pressed powders, this particular revolutionary formula is a chalk, which makes all the difference because it sticks better to your brows and stays all day without smudging. If you are looking for a brow product that will give you a defined shape in a smidgen of the time you HAVE to CHECK out Maybelline's Brow Drama Shaping Chalk, because this is what I reach for 95% of the time!

Mechanical pencil automatically sells this product for me! One of my go to brow products has always been brow pencils, but this one is created with a different technology than usual and has a mechanical end that is wide on one side for filling and pointy on the other end for shaping. If I am in a rush this is definitely what I reach for and it has a brow brush on the far end to blend the strokes together.

Okay, this brow tool is the coolest ever! Kabuki brushes are apparently a new fad in beauty and pairing it with a brow product has to be one of the greatest ideas! On one end of this tool is a fat pencil for filling in your brows (which works so great) and the other end has a kabuki brush for blending everything together with shape. The brush end is definitely a game changer when it comes to blending and I love how natural it makes my brows look.

If you are familiar with brow pencils this is probably one of my favorites that I have been using off and on over the years. One, you don't need a sharpener and two, its easy to use. This micro pencil definitely gives your brows a defined shape, so if you are going for a less natural look this is the tool for you.

Do you work brows into your makeup routine?
Have you used any of these brow products?

Poolside

Suit: Thrifted
Sunglasses: Five Below
Bandanna: Hobby Lobby
**Pictures by my Mom**
***Shoutout to my neighbors for letting us use their pool & for having the cutest dog***

Would you believe that my first time to actually go swimming in a pool this summer was when I took these pictures (which was last week)?!?!?! I am totally serious! As much as I love swimming, going to the pool, and wearing one of my favorite suits I hardly ever get to actually do that.

Despite that fact however, my love for classic and retro styles continues to carry over into my poolside style every season. This suit especially brings out all of the retro vibes because it reminds me of old 1950's Cocacola adds and I can never pass up a good polka dot print:)
