Hello all of you lovelies!
Do you ever put an outfit together and realize who your style icon influence was when you look in the mirror? As soon as I saw this finished look complete with hair, makeup, shoes, and neck scarf I knew that Daphne of Mode and The City and Jenny of Margo & Me where two huge influences on my style for this post! Both have incredible classic and elegant city styles that I can't help but swoon over all the time. Daphnie has a fabulous city wardrobe complete with adorable block heels and classic neck scarves (she also lives in Paris) and Jenny is an elegant fashionista whose hairstyle I copy ALL the time:)
With this ensemble I can't help but thinking I should be traveling in Europe, sightseeing and soaking up all of the unique culture and scenery (which I hope to do after I am done with College). There is something so European and "Big City" about a neck scarf, which always seems to lean towards uptown elegance and class. Pair a classic neck scarf with stripes and you are ready to hop on an airplane and travel around the world!
I can't help loving this ensemble every time I see these pictures because it encompasses so many classic pieces that I love and that are "in style" right now. Stripes for one are my go to 24/7 and I seriously have to many of them (but can one really have to many stripes?). Also, neck scarves are one of the fall trends right now and I can't help being drawn to their classic elegance and vintage charm as worn by Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday! I recently discovered a 3 story vintage shop downtown by campus and stumbled upon a treasure trove of vintage goodies, including this lovely scarf:) And of course you can't forget a button front skirt and lace up sued flats to complete the look along with winged liner and a retro red lip.
Truth be told, I feel as though my style has been evolving and changing since getting bangs?!?! I don't know what it is, but changing up ones hairstyle opens up the possibilities of different eras and styles to choose from and I have loved experimenting with looks I haven't before:)
What are your go to "city" looks?
Are you a fan of neck scarves?

I'm loving the neck scarf! I think I might have to try one now, so classy! Besides, anything reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn's Roman Holiday must be worth a try. :)
ReplyDeleteYES! Try a neck scarf:)

Very cute! This is such a great fall outfit, and I love all of the different textures going on here - the weathered leather bag, the suede shoes, the silk scarf. It all works really beautifully together.

Oh goodness! your outfit is the best! I am just loving it so much. For real, I have looked at the pictures several times. It is just so gorgeous and you look stunning and so chic! So pretty. I hope you don't mind if I try to copycat because I just love it so much! Vintage finds are the best and I wish I could visit the antique shop you found! Antique shopping is my jam. I love that neckscarf too! the colors are just perfect.

This is a fun outfit! I like the simplicity yet chic look of European style fashion. Your stripes and scarf are a cute combo. I too like neck scarves, but haven't worn one in a long time!
ReplyDeletePaige, thank you for your sweet comment!

AMEN to never having too many stripes! I love how you talk about the gals that inspire you--and then you turn right around and inspire others with your own look! I felt like I was borrowing a page from this book today; I'm in a striped top and silk scarf too! Because there's nothing like a bit of wishful thinking to transport you from work/class to wandering the Seine or Champs-Elysees. Love the wistfulness, as always.
ReplyDeleteSTRIPES ALL DAY...EVERY DAY! You are so sweet Chrisy! Glad to hear you are sporting the stripes and silk scarf trend too:)
