I've always loved the idea of red boots (also worn here, here, and here) and right before I went to New York in January I finally got a pair. Granted, I don't wear them all that often (NY was the one time I wore them a LOT) but I do love how they add such a fun pop of color to a look...plus they always remind me of all of my favorite classy/preppy East Coast & Southern bloggers and I can't help not loving them.
I received this dress from ThredUp recently, as I shared about my collaboration with them in a recent post and I have to say that I am absolutely OBSESSED with this dress! It is a Banana Republic dress and it is the classiest thing I have ever had...from the timeless shirtwaist design, to the light blue cotton fabric, all the way to the dainty scallped sleeves and hem what isn't to love! As soon as I saw the dress I knew that it was one of the items I wanted to get from ThredUp, and I love that I got it for such a great price (because on a regular day I don't shop at Banana Republic). This dress reminds me of so many things...it reminds me of The Astronaut Wives Club, Julia Hengel from Gal Meets Glam (just add pink and your set), and Sarah Vickers from Classy Girls Wear Pearls.

Because this dress reminded me of so many style inspirations I decided to go for classy prep as it was a rainy day and I decided my red boots would pair perfectly. With that I wanted to add another pop of color so I pulled out this vintage paisley scarf and I quite like how the whole look turned out.
I have decided that since this dress is such a classic staple I am going to bring it back a few other times throughout the coming months, styling it different ways:)

It's kind of odd.....Pink is my favorite color (light pink that is), yet I hardly ever wear pink. Looking in my closet I maybe only have a total of ten pieces that are actually all pink. You would think I would have my favorite color in pieces I can actually wear, but I guess when it comes to fashion I like to think outside of the box?
While I might not wear pink very often, it has been my favorite color ever since I can remember. Obviously many girls say pink is their favorite color, but I think besides being a color I gravitate towards it is one that perfectly captures my personality.
There is a fun question/exercise that a friend of mine shared with me years ago.....it went something along the lines of "What is your favorite color and why? How does it make you feel, etc." Then she went on to ask the same questions only about my favorite "animal" and my favorite "natural disaster." She learned about these questions in her psychology class and apparently the COLOR represents your personality and who you are. The ANIMAL represents the type of person you will marry and the NATURAL DISASTER represents your view of God. To this day those questions have always intrigued me, especially because they make since and are accurate to what they represent in my life and future!
I said that PINK (specifically pale pink) was my favorite color because it is simple, subtle, sweet, classic, and ladylike. When I look at my view of pink in regards to who I am and the color describing me, I do believe that pink encompasses who I am as a person and my personality. It reminds me of being a little girl, twirling around in princess dresses and I think it instills just a hint of childlike magic back into my "grown up" life, reminding me never to stop dreaming, to embrace who I am fully no matter what people think, and to never stop being someone who likes anything classic and ladylike:)
This pink polka dot skirt is one from my Etsy shop and I love the color and the classic polka dots! I like to name my creations like Modcloth names all of their pieces, so this particular skirt is called "You're Making Me Blush". I don't wear this skirt nearly as much as I should, but after getting this darling white ruffle blouse from SHEIN I knew they would be the perfect pairing!
The day I went to take these pictures I had a vision of a pink southern belle and I have to say these might be my FAVORITE pictures/photo shoot in awhile.....although that could just be due to this porch because I said the same thing last summer around this time in this post:) To keep with the whole "southern belle" theme I made sure to grab my giant straw bag + a scarf + peonies (the same from this post) as I ran out the door. All in all I am absolutely IN LOVE with this look and definitely think I should start wearing more pink:)

With the excitement and coverage surrounding the Royal Wedding I decided to get into the spirit of the occasion and put together a fun post inspired by "royal wedding" style. I remember when I watched William and Kate's wedding and I couldn't get over all of the pretty dresses and all the incredible fascinators.....since then I have definitely become more obsessed with the royal family (and Britain in general). I don't follow them quite as religiously as some people, but I am known by many to be a royal fan. 

I am not quite sure where my Royal obsession first started? Probably with all the BBC shows I watch, which naturally lead to my interest in the country and watching tons of period dramas, especially those about key members of the Royal family like Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth herself (The Young Victoria is one of my favorite movies and the TV shows Victoria and The Crown are definitely high on my list). I'm known to drink lots of tea, possess a decent British accent, follow royal family fan accounts on twitter and catch any major news that happens with them. Thus, the Royal Wedding is quite exciting for me, especially considering how historical it is on so many accounts! 

Some people could care less about the big day of the Royal Wedding (or the Royal Family in general) but I have always loved a good love story, especially one having to do with a Prince (I'm the total cliche) so this day was quite anticipated. It's not surprise then that some of my favorite Hallmark movies are the royal ones, that I have seen all the movies about William and Kate's love story (multiple time), and even managed to see the new Lifetime movie about Harry and Megan (call me obsessed). I guess I have checked all the boxes of being a Royal fan, well that is once I have woken up early to watch the wedding and pop a batch of scones in the oven while my tea is steeping. 

In the spirit of British fashion and Royal Wedding style I put together this look that is fit for the Royal Wedding itself. I received this lovely dress from StyleWe a few months ago and never found the right occasion to wear it until now, which worked out perfectly considering my friend in Canada sent me this lovely fascinator. The details on this dress are absolutely stunning and give off an almost 1940's vibe while still being very classic. Sometimes I tend to be a matchy, matchy person, and looking back on the wedding looks from the last Royal Wedding I know this combination would fit in with the guest list:)

When it comes to fashion, dresses are definitely my go to staple! If I were to show you my dress collection you might be shocked (because that is how many I have)......or to put it into perspective I have broken 2 clothing racks over the years because the amount of dresses is to much for the rack to handle!
Dresses are the one piece that take me back to my childhood, which seems weird, but growing up I remember loving dresses. I remember the girly prints I had and how twirling in a dress was the greatest thing ever:) I think that is why I still love dresses so much today, they make me feel like a little girl, giddy and excited, but also refined and elegant.
Just before Easter my mom and I were shopping at Ross and I happened upon this Ralph Lauren dress and I completely fell in LOVE! The dress immediately reminded me of something Julia Hengel would wear which just prompted me to love it even more. I don't often wear midi length dresses, but I think they are one of the most becoming styles of dress, being both feminine and classic (and for someone that is tall they give the added length I so desperately need). I actually wore this dress previously on the blog, but styled it casually with a denim jacket and sandals HERE.
For this shoot, I wanted to create a look that reminded me of something fit for Gal Meets Glam! I knew I wanted a straw purse, so after going to 3 different Goodwill's one day I finally found this darling bag and decided to pair it with a scarf for added elegance. I then chose to wear these white ball drop earrings and slip into a simple pair of nude suede block heels. Creating and capturing this look was so much fun because I actually got to work with a photographer, and she did a fantastic job of making my vision a reality (check here out HERE)!
