Well hello dear readers, I am back on the blog this week once again.....yay! (Now, lets see if I can keep this up throughout the semester.....) I have been thinking recently about blogging. Why I have a blog, why it is so important to me, and why I am so intrigued and inspired by other bloggers.
In the process of thinking about this topic I realized something very important, and that is this:
For most of us, blogging isn't something we do just because we have time. Blogging is a part of us, and for some it is more important than it is for others. We all blog for a specific reason, and we as people are all unique in our own way....in our own style, fashion, likes and dislikes, but most importantly in our personalities. For those like me, blogging is so important because it gives us an outlet to put our self out there for others to see.....it is a way to share who we are, talk, meet new people, and be exactly who we want without worrying about physically having to get out. Now, that might sound a bit strange, but just hear me out!

Okay, so to put this in perspective for you, I am an Introvert in the broadest since of the word. Furthermore, my personality type makes up less tan 1% of people in the world as an INFJ. With that being said, blogging is important to me because it has become a part of me in the since that I can share my style, loves, hobbies, and thoughts with people who might share in some of the same things as I do.....but I am able to do this through writing! For me, it is so much easier to write about how I feel and the things I love rather than talking about them, though with the right people this does comes easily.

Therefore, when it comes to other bloggers I have discovered that many of them are just like me! Yes...most of us as bloggers have cats (we might be on the verge of crazy cat ladies), love tea, coffee, taking, pictures, and writing, but that all comes with the territory of being a blogger and is part of our stereotype....we all share in those same things. Yet, I have discovered that the bloggers whom I can connect with the most when reading their post and hearing about their life, are those bloggers who are "Just Like Me"! The bloggers who are Introverts themselves, and very likely INFJ's or a personality similar to those.

Sometimes I can feel like I am so alone in the world. Okay.....well not alone like I do not have any friends, for I am blessed by a close group of friends who I love dearly, but none of them are like me at all!! Thus, I sometimes feel like I am alone in the world in the since that there is "no one else like me." To be honest, I have never met someone who has the same personality type as me (wait....I take that back, one of my teachers said she is an INFJ...but still). When this is the case, it is easy to feel like you will never connect with anyone who shares in the same struggles as you, but just when I thought this was the case I discovered a hand full of bloggers who are ALL Introverts themselves and a few of them are even INFJ's. It was crazy to see just how much I can connect with those bloggers when reading their posts....when scanning the words on the screen I always feel as if I am reading a part of my life because I find myself nodding in agreement and exclaiming "That is exactly how I feel!!"

So here is the thing in all this that I have said.....YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! If you are like me, quiet, Introverted, sometimes shy, don't like meeting new people (at least not in person always), would rather stay in your room with a book or a movie than go out with people, than take heart that I can TOTALLY RELATE to how you feel!! Even if you are not like me in your personality, always know that even when you feel like you are alone there are people out there in the world just like you and they know what you are going through.
Therefore, I have realized these last couple of weeks that blogging is more than just taking pictures and writing a post....it is a part of me and I now understand why so many other bloggers whom I have grown to love share in my same personality type.......for people like us, blogging is so much more and will forever be a part of the people we are!

**If you are curious as to your personality, you can take the quiz HERE!**

Are you an Introvert like me?

What is your personality type?

Do you ever feel alone?

Do you have a favorite blogger whom you can relate to?

  1. Adorable outfit, Madison!
I am definitely an introvert too, although, I don't quite fit into a myer-briggs personality type, ISTJ is probably the closest. I have also found it fun to find so many bloggers with similar interests and personalities, like-minded young ladies who can encourage each other, even though we live in such different areas!

  2. Hehe, I think it's rather funny that you are posting about being an introvert, as we girls (ok... I) have been on a bit of a "personality type" kick recently, taking quizzes ad examining my normal behavior etc. to discover my own personality type. I'm an extrovert (ENFP), though, having a sister who is an introvert, I can understand where you are coming from. I'm thankful that the Lord has blessed you with this output to share you heart & creativity within your comfort zone. It sure has been inspirational in more ways than one :)

Lovely outfit, by the way! And I love the way you did your hair! So pretty :)

    1. Isn't it intriguing finding your personality? I can definitely see you as an ENFP, but I can see how you as the youngest are an Extrovert....my sister who is the youngest is a lot like you:) I am guessing Jessica is the Introvert??:)

  3. wow! I've just put up a post on my blog about this very same thing! My blog is my outlet because there is no one like me in person or in the blogging world. I do feel so alone and every day I feel that so strongly. I've never in my life met anyone I could share my interests with. From the time I was nearly ten I've been vintage and I guess that makes me quite strange and different from the beginning. But different is very good, isn't it!
I would say I 75% introvert and 25% extrovert. I love to keep to myself and would rather sew in my treadle all night than hang out with friends and do what people do these days but I also love to wear evening gowns that I make and go to very fancy parties.
There was once a blogger I could relate to, Nabby. We were quite similar but she hasn't blogged in a few years. Sad!
I'm sorry for such a long comment but I loved your post and your elegant attire!

  4. This was lovely to read Madison, and I love your outfit by the way! I too am an introvert (an INTP to be exact), and can relate to what you are saying about being able to write things more easily than speaking them (around most people at least). Around my dear friends I can be as bubbly as I like, but it takes a long time for me to get to that place around most people.

It is always a pleasure to read your posts Madison!

  5. Love this post. As a fellow INFJ, I can concur with feeling more comfortable in writing than online. I love having this medium to connect to people with similar interests. Introverted qualities are very much overlooked in our society, which I find a great shame. My husband is a INTJ, which is often even more introverted, so we are both very adept at trying to survive in this crazy world

  6. Fantastic post (interesting, I swear, I have one of my own on being an introvert coming down the pipeline later this year; I wrote it a while back, but haven't felt the timing was right with the fall and winter holidays and such lately to share it thus far).

I was nodding my head off and relating to your points right, left and center, as I myself am a (very shy) introverted INFJ (as well as an HSP and an empath), who adores the sense of friendship, connection, and involvement (with) others that the blogging world affords. This is especially true because, more often than not, I'm housebound to my health, and have long seen the web as a lifeline of sorts for me - blogging very much included.

I really want you to know how much this post resonates with me, sweet gal, and what a huge standing ovation I'm giving you for penning it.

    1. I cannot tell you how much your comments always mean to me Jessica! I was so inspired to write this post and I am so very glad that it resonated with you:) I had a feeling you had quite the same personality as me and I am so very thrilled to know that.
Blogging is definitely an important outlet and I am glad that it means so much for you as it does me.

  7. I'm an INTJ, which is also a rare personality type (less than 1%). The bloggers I can relate to are all introverts. A lot of times, though, (at least for the bloggers I follow) the ones writing about personal things are introverts. A penchant for writing and a desire for deep connections seem to be characteristics of introverts.
    Great post and cute outfit!

    1. When I first took the personality test that is what I got...but since then having taken it two other times I am an INFJ. I would have to agree with you that the bloggers who write on more personal matter do tend to be introverts and you are absolutely write that as introverts we somehow all seem to have a penchant for writing and a desire for deep connection:)!

It's sort of interesting to me that bloggers tend towards introversion. It makes sense I suppose. I have a harder time opening up vocally, than through written word.
I love your outfit by the way!

  9. Thanks for sharing your outfit, I really love the polka dot blouse. I am also an introvert, ISFJ. I do agree with you and Brigid, that introverts, (myself included) can be very outgoing with their friends, but extremely reserved and awkward with people they don't know.

  10. I can relate to so much of what you said here, as I am also a bit of an introvert. (I'm not sure of my exact personality type, so I'll have to take that quiz!) As Jane Austen put it, "there is nothing like staying at home for real comfort"!

Your reasons for blogging also made me think that maybe I should give blogging another try--it seems like such an inspiring outlet and a great way to connect with others.

By the way, I love your outfit and hair! You look so pretty!

    1. Oh yes....do take the quiz! I absolutely LOVE that Jane Austen quote, it makes me wonder if she was an introvert??? I bet she was!
I also think you should give blogging a try again! If you like to write and share your thoughts than pinpoint what you are passionate about and share it with the world:)

  12. Madison, I love your posts. You present them with such grace and beauty, such authenticity and wisdom. And this post embodied all of those qualities! First of all, I LOVE your outfit. Really love it. And second, I understand what you mean when you say that blogging is actually more about the blogger than the readers. Since I've started blogging, I've learned more about myself, how to express myself, and how to work hard. I differ from the typical blogger because I am extroverted and not as much a fangirl. I do love to write, think, drink tea/coffee, and look at cats (see my most recent post), though. I love how blogging lets us find friends who are just like us but who just happen to live across the country! It is so unique and encouraging, not to mention fun!

  14. I am an INTP! And I totally understand what you mean by feeling alone. Even if you aren't, the thought sneaks up on you sometimes. Definitely frightens me. I guess that is another reason I write/read/blog, to be part of something and be myself all at once

  15. I was a MEDIATOR (INFP-T). firstly, your outfit and photos are just beautiful! I love them- I was watching an old Hollywood movie of Pride and Prejudice earlier and you really remind me of the actress who played Elizabeth Bennett!
Secondly, blogging IS great for knowing there are people like you. I've been blogging almost 11 years now (ahrgh, almost a third of my life!) and I just couldn't give it up- I've always liked a purpose for writing and I loved creating my own newspapers as a kid so I like to chat on my blog as well as sharing different aspects too!
I often feel frustrated about things and berating myself for being so infernally sensitive about things and it's nice to know there are others too!x
