Refined Elegance with eShakti

Dress: c/o eShakti
Shoes: Thrifted
Clutch: Vintage (thrifted)
Earrings: Old

With its flowy fabric, midi length, and ruffles, this dress is a dream! As soon as I put it on I was imagining myself attending an elegant evening event such as a theater performance, fancy party, or even a lovely dinner at a classic Italian Restaurant! A girl needs a fancy dress every now and then, and a wonderful excuse to wear it proudly like a lady!

Sadly, I don't have many opportunities to dress up ("fancy"), but that doesn't stop me from creating my own excuses to pull out a fancy dress, apply lipstick, choose a sparkly pair of earring, slip into heels, and grab a vintage clutch for a photo shoot! With my imagination and a lovely picture spot anything is possible:)

However, lets get back to this dress! I was so thrilled to partner with eShakti again for a style collaboration and review because I truly can NEVER say enough about this brand! Not only do they have an array of unique styles, but they have a wonderful customer service and it is always a pleasure working with them.Whether its a specific style, print, length, or design, eShakti always has something that I LOVE. However, even if I can't find what I am looking for, I can always create it with their customization tool! That's right....with eShakti you can actually customize any dress specifically for your taste, whether that is changing the sleeves, altering the length, picking a different neckline, or even submitting your own measurements, eShakti has something for everyone!

Some things I have learned through working with eShakti: It is typically a good idea to size down...for example, this dress is a size 2. I typically can't fit into size 2's but with eShakti a 2 is the perfect fit for me, especially if I get princess seams, which typically have to be fairly accurate sizing to fit right (stick with the closest sizing even if it is an inch less). Also, I will say that since every piece is customized for each person, it does take a bit longer than normal to receive your package, so be patient.

As soon as I saw this dress when browsing their styles I fell in love! There is definitely something so classic about polka dots, and I can't help being drawn to the dark color and ruffles. Originally this dress came with cap sleeves, but when I saw it I immediately thought of the 1930's and decided to swap the cap sleeves for a flowy ruffle sleeve....BEST choice ever! Surprisingly I didn't change the length of the dress as it was already mid-calf (usually most dresses are to short for me) and it fell right into the midi styles that I so love!

Do you like or create excuses to dress up?
Have you ever ordered from eShakti?

  1. That dress is so beautiful on you! The color with the polka dots -- it's just perfect, especially how you styled it. And great decision with the sleeves! They really set it apart from a usual, expected dress shape.
Thanks for putting some loveliness into my Monday :)

  2. Such a lovely outfit! That dress is fabulous. :)
Your hair looks great in a pony like that too, by the way! Just curious, have you tried pinning your bangs up/back or anything like that? I always thought that if I ever was brave enough to get bangs that I would end up wishing I could do something with them, and I wondered what your thoughts were now that you have experience. :)
    Blessings!

    1. Thank you Abby! As for my bangs, I actually have to swear them up for a food lab I do for one of my classes and it takes a lot of hair spray and bobby pins to perfect...it's possible to pin them up but with their length right now it is a bit hard. You could definitely get creative with a headband if you had to.

  3. That's a gorgeous dress for a gorgeous lady!
I know what you mean. I often see fancy dresses that I love but I don't even try them on because I think "I'm not going to get enough use of this". I always end up buying more versatile options. Nevertheless, I try to dress up as much as I can because I always enjoy the process of getting ready :)

    1. You are so sweet Cristina! I totally understand what you mean about versatile pieces. Usually that is what I spend my money on but on rare occassions I splurge on something fabulous!

  4. This is so beautiful! It reminds me of Rachel McAdams, only this time in The Notebook instead of About Time! I love how your paired the darker lip with this dress, it's just such a gorgeous and timeless look! Definitely elegant, all the way. I love that you make your own reasons to dress up. Sometimes it's easy to feel like we need an occasion to dress up, but it's so good to realize that we are reason enough, and feeling pretty and fancy is as good a reason as any to go all out. Love this post a lot ♥

    1. Haha...I feel like her (Rachel McAdams) character in so many movies is such a fashion inspiration! I am such a big fan of berry lipstick for fall and felt it worked with a fancy dress:) Glad you enjoyed this!

  6. I love the dress!! I have long admired eShakti, but never owned any of their dresses. They have so many classic pieces. I enjoy dressing up just because and I'm glad I'm not the only one! Most days, other people think I'm dressed up even if I'm wearing my "casual" everyday clothes.
