With wifi at a dead standstill in my dorm room this post is up later than anticipated. Thankfully though, I had typed this post up before my connections died and thus was off to the campus coffee shop after Chemistry this morning to wrap up this post while enjoying a chocolate chip bagel with peanut butter and a warm Mocha.....ah the joys and trials of technology and college life:)

Since I have not taken any outfit pictures this week (and because I have been getting settled back into college) I thought I would do another TBT post, since I haven't done one in awhile. On that note, I was going through my pictures and decided it would be fun to share some outfit pictures that I never did share on the blog (because they were taken before I started a blog) and so here are a vast array of outfit pictures of me from when I was 16 to my high school graduation (crazy to think it has been that long).

I realized that when I first got into wearing vintage I used to wear my hair in victory rolls, curls, and scarves all the time. Evidently I have become a little lazy (understatement) when it comes to doing my hair up in a vintage style, and I really need to get back into styling my hair more vintage. Anyways, lets talk a little bit about these outfits!

The first set was one of my favorite ensembles when I first started wearing vintage. This was actually the outfit I wore to my first day of class when I started dual credit. I can confidently say that I was being true to myself and have pretty much kept that up:)

Now this outfit is one of my faves! I actually don't think I have worn this combination in about 2 years. However, it is another one of those ensembles that looked all out vintage from my hair down to my shoes and that is probably why I love it so much. The more I look at my hair the more I miss those victory rolls...I need to bring these back in my hairstyles!

Furthermore when your dad comes from an old country town you have to go take pictures after church when you are visiting for the weekend. However, as much as I could go on about the perfect brick walls for picture taking I will just talk a little about this ensemble before I move on. I love the combination of red, white, and black that this ensemble combines but my favorite part is the shoes. These are actually dancing shoes that I got on my birthday while at the annual Square Dance Hoedown. Lets just say they are SUPER comfortable and perfect for a 1950's or 1940's look (hopefully they will hit the blog in a real post sometime soon).

Next, is one of the outfits I wore for my senior pictures. I decided to take pictures in ensembles from my favorite eras....thus this one was for the 1950's. I wore a fun lime green dress that I had refashioned to be my size. Of course if you are going to visit your local old fashioned soda fountain during the photo shoot you just throw on a few more colors, grab a milkshake, and snap a few pictures while you are at it.

Last but not least, is my 1940's look that I chose for senior photos. Sadly, this isn't an outfit that I would wear on a regular basis, but when doing a 1940's photo shoot this works perfectly! I have always loved this polka-dot blouse that was my Granny Minnie's. And I must not forget about the hat, which by the way has only been worn in these photos, but I don't think that I could pull it off any other time :)

Well....I guess that is all for now. I hope to get back into the swing of things for blogging amidst my collage schedule and venturing out on campus with my camera and trypod. Let us hope that next week will prove more fruitful as for coming out with an original post!! Until next week:)

//Throw Back Thursday// Face Behind The Muse

Well dear readers, it is Thursday and I am throwing back to the days long ago (well, not that long). I mentioned before that I would share more pictures of my grandmother and today is the day!

For those of you who did not see my first post, Face Behind The Muse, today you get the priveledge of meeting my Granny Minnie, a wonderful woman with a fabulous since of style (and who was also the inspiration for my blog).

I am not sure about you lovely ladies, but I LOVE old photos!! Either old photos of family members or simply random pictures I find in a quaint shop downtown:) Pictures freeze time for future generations to later experience and reminisce about, and they inspire us to delve deeper into the history behind the black and white silhouettes.

It seems as I have gotten older that rummaging through old pictures at my Dad's house where he grew up has been a constant activity of mine. That and listening to all of the exciting, comical, and adventurous stories told by my 95 year old Paw Paw (who you might just get to meet today?)! Whenever I was a girl, I did not appreciate the old pictures and the stories, but now, it is like a part of me and thus I relish the moments.

This past trek to Thorndal (my dad's home town) I was rummaging through old photos as always and came across all of these lovely shots that I am sharing today:) The first two photos above were of my Granny Minnie in her early 20's I would assume. I absolutely love the first picture of her sitting in a garden, and Oh, her snow suit (and the snow) is great in the second photo:) The picture right above was taken in 1952 on the porch of what looks to be the farm house my Paw Paw grew up in and is such a perfect candid shot.

As per the date on the top of this picture, it was taken in 1957. My Granny Minnie is holding one of my Uncles. Can we just take a moment to admire her white dress and matching hat! Oh, and leas we forget about the wonderful car in the background, which just happens to be my dream car (hehe):)

This picture might be an older one, considering that she is holding the hand of my Uncle Jerry who was the youngest of her five children. However, I loved how authentic this picture looked and I also love what she was wearing (this picture was probably taken in the 40's) :)

And now for one of the best pictures of the post.....this fabulous portrait taken on the day she married my Paw Paw! She looks so stunning and elegant, especially on such an important day. This photograph definitely captures the essence of her style, but also the wonderful fashion of the decade.

As I come to a close on this post today, I couldn't help sharing a few more photos, the two above being of particular importance or interest because here my Granny Minnie is pictures with my dad...Yes, my dad. Wasn't he the cutest little boy ever!

Last but not least, the newest introduction you lovelies might have been anticipating....I now have the privilege of introducing you to my Paw Paw, a lifelong farmer and man of full Scottish blood, Sydney McQuary (but everyone calls him Sid)

I know I could have picked a better picture of my Paw Paw to introduce you all to, but this is one that I found and loved because of the stories it can tell. However, while I would love to tell you all the army adventures of a man who was a commander on a half track in WWII, the day and post are not long enough, so for now I must content myself with the fact that you all have now been introduced to my Paw Paw :)

I hope the day finds you cheered by the sunshine, but whatever the case may be, I hope you dear readers enjoyed getting a little taste of my inspiration and a introduction to my family history.

Dress: Minnie's Menagerie; Shoes: Marshals; Broach: Grandma's

Well lovely readers, I thought since I have not yet had time to take any new pictures since starting this semester I might as well take the opportunity to share some old pictures with you all. These pictures document my two adventures over the last two years in the quaint town of Round Top (about an hour away from where I live).

To introduce the purpose of these adventures, we must start at the beginning. The only reason we traveled to this Round Top (both times) was for a big square dance that our (my sister and I) club was invited to. However, we could not pass up the opportunity to explore the town and places around it. We had a family friend who is a photographer and she mentioned a lovely spot she had discovered. Well, lets just say that this

spot is was very magical (to me at least) and reminded me of something from a fairytale.

These pictures were taken back in 2013 (ages ago) and that was when I had bangs:) Anyways, there is a house which has this amazing stone bridge (above picture) which crosses a river/pond, but at that particular time it was dry, so we were able to take pictures under it. They also have a wonderful garden with a tower that reminds me of Repunzel.

All in all, the day was fabulous and full of adventures and perfect picture spots, including a number of red British telephone booths!!!

This past summer, we traveled to Round Top again, and this time on the way we stopped off at this enchanted creek with some dear friends to take a few pictures. I must say that we look somewhat like characters from a fairytale ourselves:)

However, I was unfortunately the one who decided to wear a splendid red skirt, not even considering that I would stick out like a "sore thumb" in every single picture. But nonetheless, this spot proved to be picture perfect!
