The Value of Time
Monday, June 11, 2018
Shirt: Thrifted (Ralph Lauren) | Pants: H&M | Shoes: Thrifted | Bag: Target | Earrings: Five Below | Scarf: Thrifted (Vintage) | Watch: c/o JORD
I don't know about you, but I feel as though at the turn of each new year time goes by faster and faster! As much as I think certain weeks or months will inch by, they always end up flying by faster than I think and before I know it a month, and then two months, and then a year are up.
When I think about time and how fast it goes, I always wonder how much I miss. I think so often, we are focused on getting as much done as we can in the time we have, but what if our focus on fitting so much in causes us to miss things? What if we are so focused on getting things done that we miss what time has to offer?
When the topic of time comes up it always gets me to thinking? It makes me think about how many hours I have in a day and how much I need to get done, but it also makes me think about wasted time. What if those moments we take to relax or those times we get sidetracked are moments we could have dedicated to something important?
I guess when it comes to time there are always so many questions, but also so many thoughts on making the most of every moment. Like when you think you are to busy to get everything done, but in the long run if it is important to you you will make time! That is a resolution of mine as of late, to make time for what is important to me and to stop making excuses!
As for this look, it is a little different than my usual style, but something I have been loving lately! I found these paper bag waist pants at H&M a couple of months ago and fell in love with them when I tried them on. They reminded me of something an artist would wear, and according to the 6th grader I had in class one day that's what he thought too:) Since the pants are so unique I usually pair them with a striped top, for this look I chose to pair them with a striped tank top. Since the look is very "business" like I paired it with flat loafers and my business bag.
To finish off the look I decided to wear my JORD wood watch for an extra unique flair. I have always loved the style of JORD watches because there are not many like it. I love that they are wood and bring in a natural style to a look while adding in a slightly modern flair.

Snow Day
Thursday, December 14, 2017
Coat: Thrifted (Forever 21) | Pants: Thrifted (Nine West) | Boots: Thrifted | Socks: Old Navy
Scarf: a gift | Hat: Target | Gloves: a gift (Faded Glory)
For those of you who might be wondering "This isn't even a lot of snow....why is she sooooo excited about it?" I know.....this really isn't even that much, but I live in Texas so for me and other Texans this was a pretty BIG DEAL! According to my Canadian friend what I consider to be a "light dusting" of snow, to Canadians is 3 inches, so by that measure this "light dusting" of snow we got last week isn't all that impressive. However, being the Texan that I am it was a "Christmas Miracle" to wake up and see the world covered in a layer of pure white, magical powder.
And to be honest, the only reason I was able to even enjoy this magical occurrence was because my cat woke me up early in the morning, and considering that I had stepped outside at 10pm the night before to see the BIGGEST snowflakes in my life falling from the sky, I was curious to see if it had stuck and the sight before my eyes was breathtaking! Of course I decided to make the most of it and spent a good hour or more taking pictures and driving around to bask in the white glory of our town. I felt like I had awaken into a scene of a Hallmark movie.....not one of the movies where the snow falling is puffy bubbles from a "bubble snow" machine (because it was filmed in the summer to fit it into their schedule for filming 32 original Christmas movies), or where the cover of snow on bushes and the sidewalk is actually white poly-fill covering to make an attempt at "appearing" to be snow.....it was rather a scene where the small town (that hardly ever got snow) awoke in a winter wonderland because St. Nicholas took it upon himself to add to the magic of the season and make the Christmas OBSESSED town's "Winter Festival" all the more "wintery" with a blanket of white.....and everyone lives Happily Ever After, THE END!
Okay, so maybe that is overdoing it a bit, but that is seriously the best way to describe our Snow Day. Of course, with snow for me meant dressing for the occasion and I took to it like marshmallows to hot chocolate in grabbing my most "wintery" outfit and getting ready in 30 minutes to capture the snowy scenery before it melted in the sun. What says SNOW DAY or WHITE CHRISTMAS more than an outfit of red, white, and Christmas sweater print? NOTHING! So with my winter gear on and my Christmas spirit on full power I went outside to capture the miracle and enjoy the beauty while it lasted.....throwing snow, twirling, and breathing in the crisp air "I Smell Snow" (get the reference)!
Do you live in a place that gets snow?
Do you get excited about snow or is it a nuisance?

Stripes & Spring Sneakers
Tuesday, May 16, 2017
Pants: Thrifted (Talbots)
Shirt: Thrifted (Jones New York)
Shoes: Rack Room (Limelight)
Purse: EverlyOak
Necklace: Kendra Scott
You would have thought that since I had no finals this semester (which meant a week with no work college related) that I would have been posting blog content out of the wazoo, but that was completely NOT the case!
Time completely got away from me last week, with spring checkouts and packing up ALL MY STUFF to move back home. To top it off, this weekend was full of attending college graduations for some dear friends and Monday I spent the entire day (really like 9 hours) unpacking, culling, and reorganizing all of my stuff that I brought back from college (which was a LOT)!
So here's the thing, even though I have like 3 awesome shoots sitting on my computer to post, life was still crazy and the thought of sitting down to write a post seemed daunting amongst all the tasks at hand, but alas, today I bring you this casual and fabulous spring/summer look.
I have had these pants since the fall and wear them at last twice a week. I love them because while they are denim, the cut and pockets make them look a bit more dressy and I can get away with dressing them up or down (plus they are so comfortable). Of course, what would summer denim be without stripes and I am so in love with this tshirt that I picked up at Goodwill. However, the icing on the cake are these absolutely perfect white spring sneakers! I had seen a lot of people this season with the cutest sneakers and took props from Olivia with this particular pair. I have seen Olivia on multiple occasions pair white sneakers with a slightly fancy top and denim, and totally love the paring so I thought I would try it for myself and I am hooked!
I have always been a converse and keds kinda girl (and still am) but because of the lace cutout details on these sneakers I can actually get away with making these more dressy and that is a total BONUS! I'm curious to see how I will continue to style these throughout the season, but for now this is my new favorite thing:)
Are you a sneaker person?
