I don't know what it is about fall that draws me to 70's style, but every year as October draws near and the weather starts to cool I automatically reach for denim jumpers, funky floral prints, striped turtleneck sweaters, bold tights, and ankle boots!

Oddly enough, I used to think that dressing like the 70's meant donning bold and colorful prints, braided crowns, shiny boots, and peace signs, but as the years have gone by I have realized that true 70's style is so much more classic and appropriate for the cooler months, when the leaves fade into warm colors and the breeze whispers through the trees. If you have ever watched "That 70's Show" you probably know exactly what I am talking about when it comes to 70's fashion.

Denim jumpers seem to be my fall staple every year, and I recently found this perfect number at a local thrift store. Originally it was much longer (talk about unflattering) but I knew that with a bit of tweaking I could make it look like something from Madewell (mission accomplished). I decided to pair this denim jumper with one of my grandmothers funky polyester tops which came straight from the 70's, and if any print described the time, this would be it:) I finished off the look with brown accessories, gold hoops, and darker shades of makeup. I can definitely say with certainty that this jumper will be on repeat throughout the season!

The weather has taken a change of turn and it has finally reached cooler temperatures!!! Hurray!!! In the morning temperatures have been in the 50's and the day warms up to a lovely 70's which means sweaters can be worn without dying of heat stroke and there is a crisp fall breeze drifting through the air. It seems like I have been waiting forever to wear my favorite fall pieces and now I finally can embrace them with full force in layers and tights:)

Oddly enough, this semester I am taking my last science class which just so happens to be a weather and climate class. As a result of this, I now know more than I ever have about the weather and might be known to say something scientifically smart about the clouds or terrestrial radiation! However, because of that class I also know that while I am enjoying the wonderful cool fall weather this weekend, there is unfortunately a warm front coming in later next week. Thus, I am soaking up every ounce of this weather that I can!

As the cool weather is only to be shortly lived I am fully taking advantage of the sweaters and tights in my closet! This ensemble is definitely a new fave of mine! Stripes have always been a favorite as have sweater turtle necks. Apart from that, it is no surprise that I pulled out my mustard tights, because lets be honest, mustard is my favorite fall color!!!! I can't help thinking that this ensemble looks like something straight from Modcloth's fall styles....complete with the jumper dress! Modcloth has done a fabulous job with their fall patterns, styles, and colors and I fell in love with their modern does 1970's style which seems to be a fall inspiration I fall back on.

If anyone says "Blogging Withdrawal" is not a thing they are wrong! Yes, I have been blogging, but not in the capacity that I prefer of sharing outfits with you all. If any of you remember from last week, my Instagram post here where I shared my Goodwill hall.....well I finally got around to taking pictures in the ensemble I bought from that day!! Yay! 

Funny story (and not so funny....but that part would take to long) is that I was planning on taking these pictures last Saturday with more of a 60's vibe of bouffant hair, a headband, curls, and loafers. Needless to say even though I got up that morning and pampered for the shoot the day ended up being not the greatest and ended with me watching Netflix in pajamas on my bead with full makeup and hair.....but sometimes that's just how life is!

I can't help but look at this sweater, skirt, and booties and think of Lauren from Someone Like You whose style lately has got me so inspired to delve more into the 60's and 70's realm of vintage, like she did in this post. Furthermore, with my hair the way it was for this look I was struck by how much it mirrors something I would find Alexandria wearing over at Larkspur Vintage because her style is to die for as well! 

With all this being said I must say I am quite liking the whole late 60's early 70's look. I never thought myself much of a fan for wearing styles from these eras, or usually didn't even try because of my long legs (hehe), but these pieces perfectly captured the essence of those decades while still keeping it classy. 

Originally I hadn't even planned or pictured wearing tights with this skirt but when I was getting ready this morning I had a revelation and quickly ran to my closet and pulled out my mustard tights (you know I am a sucker for that color), and boy was I thrilled that the color matched perfectly!! Plus wearing tights added a little warmth for the changing temperature swings we are currently experiencing here:) 

All in all I think this look or variations of it just might be a recurring theme for the next couple of months...that is until it gets warm. However, for not I am totally up for trying something new and different than my norm and this definitely fits the bill.
