If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen my stories and posts about my spring style obsession....culotte Jumpsuits! This blue and white striped number is absolutely TO DIE FOR and I couldn't pass it up when I found it. If there is one piece in my wardrobe that's already been worn multiple times this spring, this jumpsuit would be it! 

Stripes have always been one of my favorite prints, and the colors in this combo are perfect for this season. The light airy fabric of this style makes you feel like you are wearing pajamas which is always the GREATEST thing ever:) I also love all the details like the front pockets, buttons, and front tie. 

I think the greatest thing about jumpsuits is that they are so versatile in styling. I can easily pair this with clogs and some fun statement pieces or throw on a denim jacket and sneakers to dress it down. For this look I knew I just had to pull out my new Everly Oak basket purse to pair with the look and opted for my sued flats and a floral head scarf to give it a vintage vibe. Whatever the case, occasion, or day might be this jumpsuit will be my ultimate go to this spring into summer so expect to see it even more! 

Also....on a side note, I am heading out tomorrow to speak at the 2017 Modest Fashion Guild conference and I am so SUPER EXCITED to meet everyone who will be attending and speak to all the girls about "Styling Outfits For Photo Shoots." Not only will I get to talk to a couple people I have met on Instagram, but I can't wait to visit with girls who love fashion as much as me.

Well, March has certainly turned out to be a record breaking month for the number of posts that have gone live on the blog...13 in total! YAY! That averages out to about two posts a week:) Anyways, you all might remember my post highlighting my plans for spring break, one of which was doing a photo shoot with an up and coming young photographer friend of mine and well....this post is all about those pictures! Now granted, I cannot include all of the pictures (unfortunately) and this post is already verging on picture overload but I couldn't help but include all of my favorite images:)

For the shoot we decided to head to the historic part of our downtown Tomball area which includes a lovely old church, two old homes, two log cabins, a school house, two other building, and a gazebo....needless to day it houses (no pun intended) a number of fabulous picture spots that go perfectly for a vintage shoot. I still remember visiting these historic houses one December for their "Old Town Christmas" celebration fully decked out in my own fabulous 1800's creation (I even got to take a picture with the Mayor in one of the house's elegant parlors) and since then this old historic area of town makes me reminisce about the olden days. 

While brainstorming what ensemble I would wear for the shoot I remembered this darling and one of a kind dress from my grandmothers collection! While it is probably straight from the 1940's it also gives of a slight 1930's feel to me and when paired with this flouncy collared shirt I thought it the perfect combination to capture. Even though the wind at times proved trying in regards to keeping the ruffled collar flat, the over all look of the ensemble made me feel quite elegant :) Ever since discovering this dress I have always loved it. From the big white side buttons, checkered trim and back pocket it is truly a treasure. Thus, I chose to pair it with a tan belt, matching tan heeled sandals, large earrings and simple curled/twisted style. 

I can't help myself from looking at these pictures over and over again as I LOVE them sooooo MUCH! It was such a wonderful experience to collaborate with an actual photographer for a shoot since I am used to always talking my own pictures. On that note, it was also different because I am not used posing in front of someone who actually holds the camera (apart from my sister), but after awhile it simply became natural! 

I can't wait to collaborate and work with Katie again for a blog shoot later on down the road, but for now I am simply LOVING these shots that she captured:)

Maybe it's the summer or maybe it's me, but I have been obsessed with donning and creating new vintage hairstyles to wear. I used to do simple and easy things with my hair but now my outlook is "Go big or go home" (in a totally not proud way). I guess its just that hair is such an important part of a vintage ensemble? If you wear a perfectly vintage outfit but just wear your hair in a ponytail or straight, it takes away from the uniqueness of wearing vintage. Therefore, if you really want to feel like you stepped out of time than by all means throw your hair up into something fabulous!! 

Evidently you have already studied the header for this post and discovered that I have a new Blog Series that will be hitting the blog every once and awhile...YAY!!! This series is all about the "Beauty Parlor" so I will  focus on hair, maybe a little makeup, nails, and possibly a few facials here and there! I am sooo excited to share this series with you all, so without further ado lets get started.....

The backbone to every vintage hairstyle are the basic tools of course. Then there is the "Oh so important" hairspray! Now, I have had my fair share of going through different hairsprays so in  the above picture are my Top 3 picks in order of their abilities and performance. If you find a good hairspray that does what you want it to, your hairstyle is bound to hold and stay longer. Then of course you need bobby pins, a brush, and a teasing comb to get volume and hold. 

The hairstyle featured today is what I would assume to be a mid 30's to early 40's updo. I tend to think of the 30's when I see this hairstyle, however I have also seen it used in the 40's. Interestingly, this hairstyle was the result of a failed attempt to pin curl my hair (lets just say I need practice). Nonetheless, the slightly curly hair did not go to waste as I decided to try re-pin curling it on top of my head! I started with putting my hair in a high pony tail and left my long curly bangs out in front. Then I re-pin curled my hair around my pony tail as well as my bangs on the very top of my head. I was thoroughly surprised with the results:) I added a flower to the style and headed off to work, mind you I felt like I had truly stepped out of a different time (that is what a good hairstyle will do for you). 

 

Will I attempt this hairstyle again? Most definitely, but only if my hair is curly. It definitely took more time than other styles but the results were worth it. If I wanted to, I could have even left it in till the next day and then taken it down to have curls? I do however need to work on my fly away's, but I think I can fix those by using setting lotion.
